Choice Independence is dedicated to the creation of a sustainable community based on the unconditional acceptance of those we serve. We embrace the philosophy of Gentle Teaching and commit ourselves daily to serve with openness, compassion and hope for the future.

Together through changes – We recognize that transition is an important aspect of every persons experience and seek to implement structures that help people through the changes that take place in life.

Open hearts, open minds – We believe that a deep experience of safety can only be had when both our hearts and minds are open to forming positive relationships. We must view ourselves as equals with the people we serve and open ourselves to others, even when they are not open to us.

Unconditional acceptance – Our acceptance is not based on the behavior of others. We fully accept and value those we serve, even when we see them at their worst.

Commitment to compassion – We are committed to serving with empathy and a strong desire to relieve the suffering of others in every way possible. We believe that compassion is the foundation for building community.

Hope for the future – We give praise based on what we want for a person not for what we think they deserve. We choose to believe the best about the people we work with and for and to imagine a brighter future for those we serve.
